- Well, apparently not even rebel Idol Adam Lambert is too cool for school. He recently stopped by an L.A. campus for a "School Of Rock"-style jam on "Whataya Want From Me"--and unlike his wilder, more theatrical productions, this was a laid-back affair, complete with an amusing false start and a few loosely improvised moments as he got accustomed to his young new backing band. But Adam hung in there and charmingly laughed it off, and along the way he taught some music students a valuable entertainment business lesson: The show must always go on.
Adam, who got his own start in the arts performing in elementary school theater productions, has long championed music education programs in public school systems via his involvement with the charity website DonorsChoose.org. Through Donors Choose, Adam recently rallied his many diehard fans to help raise $300,000 to fund musical instruments for needy schools, and on Thursday, February 18, he personally black-fingernailed-hand-delivered some of these supplies to Belvedere Middle School in East Los Angeles, where he then surprised 45 lucky Contemporary Rock class students with a Q&A chat and this fun, jam session. The kids then cranked out an original song and the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" (incidentally, the first song Adam memorably performed live on Idol last year), while Adam cheered them on.
Who knows, maybe after this special visit, some of these talented kids will be inspired to audition for American Idol season 20. http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/realityrocks/318885/adam-lamberts-school-of-rock/ | |
