- So far, it has been a week of successes for Adam Lambert across the board. His new single "If I Had You" has increased in radio airplay, single sales, and has also seen its spot rise on the Billboard Hot 100. So where did the "American Idol" singer end up on some of the more specific Billboard genre charts? Let's take a look.
Radio Songs: 60 (last week: 70)
With more airplay comes a higher ranking -- simple, right? Since Adam already has about 4,000 spins across all radio formats, it means that he is on the way up. Spin increases have leveled off slightly over the past few days, though, which could spell trouble if more stations don't pick it up.
Digital Songs: 36 (last week: 43)
The large number of digital downloads can be best attributed to two groups of people -- casual listeners and diehard fans who are actually going out of their way to purchase the song, even if they have it already.
Pop Songs: 23 (last week: 27)
It is this chart where Adam has easily the most potential to enter the top ten. "If I Had You" speaks "pop" on every level, from its beat to its message of love.
Adult Pop Songs: 28 (last week: 33)
As I've said previously, this is the toughest chart to gauge since it involves a specific audience. We do know that many of Adam's fans are older, so we can't be too all together surprised if he shoots up the charts here. http://www.examiner.com/tv-in-national/american-idol-adam-lambert-moves-up-all-genre-charts | |
