- The fans will be cramming themselves into the MuchMusic parking lot June 20 for a glimpse of the sun reflecting off Justin Bieber's bangs. As for the stars, they'll be there to party and pick up some hardware. And today, we've got a better idea of who exactly will be schmoozing up the MMVAs, as this year's nominations have just been announced.
Hometown superstar Drake leads with seven nominations, including nods for Hip Hop Video of the Year and International Video of the Year by a Canadian. And following him are all the usual suspects (provided you maintain a steady diet of teen-geared music television).
The Can-Con is strong with the MMVAs this year, as B.C. pop-punks Hedley follow Drake with six nominations, including the big one: Video of the Year. Justin Bieber has an OMG-worthy four nominations; Alexisonfire, Classified, Stereos and Danny Fernandes are all tied with three a piece.
In the international (read: pop stars who don't know what a bunny-hug is) categories, this year's co-host Miley Cyrus has scored two nods -- a tally she shares with MMVA performer Katy Perry, as well as Adam Lambert, Ke$ha, Taylor Swift and the only MMVA guest to ever have her boobs spontaneously combust, Lady Gaga.
More announcements, including news about who will be performing and presenting at this year's bash, are expected in the coming days. The 2010 MMVAs air on MuchMusic Sunday, June 20 at 9 p.m. (Dose.ca is running a contest that gives you the chance to win a trip to Toronto for the MMVAs -- you know, in case you'd like to try seeing the show up close, instead of live from your mom's basement...)
