Queen With Adam Lambert in Detroit Queen + Adam Lambert brings “magic” to the Palace

- AUBURN HILLS >> Queen once asked the musical question “Who wants to live forever?” but the veteran British band is doing a pretty good job at that — and an even better job these days with “American Idol” finalist Adam Lambert in tow.
Co-founders Brian May and Roger Taylor had a good run with Paul Rodgers between 2004-09, but it was hardly the vintage Queen experience, substituting Rogers’ hard rock grit for the pomp and bombast that was the group’s stock in trade with its late original frontman Freddie Mercury. Lambert demonstrated during the band’s show Saturday night, July 12, at The Palace that he’s cut from the same cloth as Mercury and more comfortable with the theatrics and camp — not to mention flamboyant costumes, black nail polish and eyeliner — than Rodgers, a prototypical jeans and T-shirt rocker, could ever be...........The Oakland Press

- This concert was cool as tits and for me it was free except for the parking space but who cares about that.
The sound quality was a bit wishy washy at times because of course it’s a rock concert.
The stage set was pretty cool it was a big Q in the middle and steps up to Roger Taylor and two balcony things off too the side. Inside the big Q was a screen where they played the close up footage of the stage and members plus bonus Freddie Mercury and other footage. Also there was two other screens off to the sides of the middle Q. And at the Q was a path leading to the middle of the crowd for some of that cool interaction and struts.
Adam Lambert was really charming and fucking funny. Plus his wardrobe was fabulous! Bonus was during Killer Queen he laid on a fancy couch drinking wine and then spat the wine into the crowd. He’s a fantastic singer don’t shy away from him because he isn’t Freddie, he was almost just as awesome as Freddie in stage presence. He’s quite interactive with the crowd too he isn’t boring and doesn’t ever shy away.
Brian May was SHREDDING he’s so great at guitar I think he should be the lead guitar for every band. He’s just amazing and super adorable for an old man. We also get to have some solos and Brian moments.
Roger Taylor and his boy Rufus were totally radical and slamming. They had an epic drum off and they both did really well drumming.
Overall the concert was amazing and I hope you guys go check out any other tour dates.
My rating is 9.5/10 the crowd was kind of lame.
