South Florida Gay News Associate Publisher Pens Eloquent Rebuttal in Defense of Adam Lambert
Quote :
In response to a scathing editorial written by the South Florida Gay News publisher about why Adam Lambert doesn’t deserve to receive a GLAAD award next month, Associate Publisher Jason Parsley has penned his own piece in defense of Lambert.
In Jason’s op-ed piece, he discusses just how much Lambert has done for the gay community (aside from just “wearing a purple shirt on Spirit Day,” as the original article sniped).
Among the facts cited: Lambert came out at the beginning of his career (rather than later on when it might have been safer), he was the first LGBT artist to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and he even performed on the Chinese version of ‘The Voice‘ in front of 400 million people.

The South Florida Gay News Writes a Scathing Editorial About Adam Lambert
Quote :
Next month, singer Adam Lambert is set to receive an award from GLAAD for promoting equality. However, not everyone in the gay community is all that excited about it — particularly the South Florida Gay News, which published a scathing editorial today about how an award is the last thing Lambert deserves.
Adam spent last weekend in Miami, getting a key to the city and serving as the headline act at the Miami Gay Pride festival. But SFGN publisher Norm Kent doesn’t think Lambert deserves any sort of recognition, so he wrote a pretty nasty piece that’s already ignited the ire of not just Glamberts, but parts of the gay community as well.
It refers to LGBT organizations as shallow, asserts Adam’s celebrity status is the only reason GLAAD is honoring him, says he’s too young (he’s 31) to have had any true impact on equality, and points out he remained closeted during his success on ‘American Idol.’......read more on Starcrush

Adam Lambert Talks Gay Civil Rights and Homophobia in Russia
Quote :
There’s more to Adam Lambert than a pretty face, set of perfectly-sculpted brows and killer windpipes. The singer, American Idol veteran and gay icon also cares about socio-political issues and is concerned with the homophobic climate in Russia.
Glambert, who headlined the Miami Beach Gay Pride festival this week and is scheduled to perform at the Pittsburg Pride festival in June, spoke about civil rights before he took the stage on Saturday in Florida.
After responding to a few questions via Twitter (if he had to define his career in three words, he’d describe it as “surreal, exciting and glam”), he responded to a fan who asked him how it felt to be an out and famous gay man at this point in history. “We’re definitely in the midst of our own civil rights movement, in a way,” he replied......read more at Popdust

Hump Day With Adam Lambert : After Elton Weekly Column
Quote :
It's no secret we love Adam Lambert and the energy and joy he brings to the otherwise sterile, manufactured world of modern pop music. But he's such a worldwide whirling dervish that it's sometimes difficult to keep track of where and when he touches down. So we're trying out a new weekly feature: Hump Day With Adam Lambert, which will hopefully keep us up-to-date with his appearances, performances, and interviews. read this weeks article Here
