For Your Entertainment Sells A Million Worldwide (Offical Announcement & News)

Today, Adam Lambert’s official website broke the news that his debut CD, For Your Entertainment, has sold one million copies worldwide. Although there is no official resource available that tracks worldwide record releases for the public, several notable sources, including record company blogs, several American Idol blogs and many official artist websites, Lambert is now part of the American Idol elite, putting him in the top 10 best selling American Idol contestants of all time. Season 7 winner David Cooke and Lambert are the only two artists who have cracked the million mark with only one post-Idol album each.

The website wrote the following message: "It gives us great pleasure to announce that over 1 million copies of Adam Lambert's debut album, For Your Entertainment, have now been sold worldwide. Congrats to Adam for his incredible success."

Topping the list would be Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson, who has amassed more than 23 million in total sales worldwide, while Carie Underwood has moved about 15 million albums. In US sales, Lambert’s album has been certified Gold and is currently nearing the 700,000 mark in sales, making him the 16 best selling Idol star of all time, out of 51 potential Idol recording artists.

In Canada, Lambert was awarded a Platinum Award (80,000 copies sold) in April for the album and Double Platinum Digital Download award (80,000) for the single Whataya Want From Me, while the single For Your Entertainment was awarded a Platinum Digital Download (40,000) certification in April.

Lamert is currently on the US leg of the Glam Nation Tour that will take him well into September.

What is it about Adam Lambert that makes him so magnetic? What is it that we "want from him?" If you ask me, it' that he is himself. Adam Lamber doesn't sugar coat his persona. He's a magnetic personality and he doesn't apologize for who he is - even when he offends people.

Perhaps the one thing that put Adam Lambert on the map was his AMA performance in which he simulated oral sex with a man, spawning FCC heat and outrage across America (Adam - it was prime time Network TV, not Skinemax - perhaps not the best venue for such an artistic gesture.). However, despite the outrage, complaints and shock you didn't hear Adam say those three words - I am sorry.

That's where I applaud him. That's where his fans applaud him and that's the very reason he's so successful. He's one of the only artists who is true to himself and his fans. Love him or hate him - he's comfortable in his skin and he doesn't care about what anyone else thinks of him.
