American Idol is in full swing -- eight contestants have already been eliminated and four more are set to leave on Thursday. Season 9 began with much change when longtime judge Paula Abdul left and comedian Ellen DeGeneres filled her slot next to Simon Cowell at the judge's table. His originality was greatly appreciated, his positive attitude was contagious, and his talent was undeniable. He clearly displayed originality, which was something the judges praised him for.
