Adam Lambert got his start performing in musical theater, rose to fame as an “American Idol” runner-up and now, he’s nominated for a Best Male Pop Vocal Grammy Award – an honor not lost on the glam rocker.
“To be nominated in the same category as [Michael] Jackson, that blows my mind,” Adam told Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover about his illustrious competition, which includes the late King of Pop for his song, “This Is It.”
“I grew up listening to Michael Jackson and he’s such an icon,” Adam continued. “He was such an influence on so many of these artists… It’s a real honor.”

Adam Lambert has admitted that he never expected to be nominated for a Grammy award.
The American Idol star told CBS’s The Talk that he didn’t even know the nominations were due when he heard that he was being considered in the ‘Best Male Pop Vocal’ category for his song ‘Whataya Want From Me’.
Getting a jump on the weekend, Adam Lambert headed over to Avalon nightclub in Hollywood last night (February 10).
During the course of the west coast outing, the “American Idol” alum hung out and had a few drinks with friends as the paparazzi looked on.
In related news, Adam’s fans have helped him to surpass his initial $29,000 goal for raising money for charity:water.
Even when he raised the goal to $290,000, it didn’t take long for the cash to come flowing in. At this point, there’s no telling how much Lambert and his crew will raise.
