- Adam Lambert's first post-American Idol single, the grandiose and Aerosmithian 2012 power-ballad "Time For Miracles," has been blowing up all week long--first on some international iTunes sites, then as a leak on YouTube, and then (after its official American release date was quickly moved up from October 27 to October 20 to accommodate Glambert demand) on both U.S. Amazon and iTunes.
So with all this blowing-up going on, it makes sense that the just-premiered video for the cranked-to-11 track is an epic and explosive affair, sort of like a mini-movie version of 2012 itself. In the doomsday clip, the leading man (matinee Idol?) is in full-on trenchcoated Mad Max outlaw mode, fearlessly traipsing miraculously unscathed through a post-apocalyptic cityscape of looters, nosediving airplanes, freefalling great balls of fire, and imploding skyscrapers. And all the while, the camera basically makes love to him from every angle as draws on his many years of theatrical training (not to mention braving the fiery elements of the Burning Man desert) to deliver an appropriately OTT performance.
Yes, Adam Lambert is undoubtedly one photogenic gent...and in the "TFM" video he manages to look glamorous even when covered in more dust and filth and soot than a Dickensian chimney sweeper, and even while disaster and decay and destruction unfold all around him in flaming slo-mo CGI. His guyliner scarcely even gets smudged, and his famous hair, while slightly mussed, still looks good despite cataclysmic windstorms that'd ruin the most meticulously gelled-and-moussed tresses of a lesser man.
But then again, Adam has had to deal with the media prying into his personal life, personal photos leaking onto the Interweb, Randy Travis having the gall to question his choice in nail polish, X-rated inanimate objects being hurled at his face on the American Idols Live tour, overexcited fans squealing in his ears at dog-whistle decibel levels at meet-and-greets...so of course he knows how to exhibit grace under pressure.
And so, without further ado...here's the video everyone's been waiting for. I can only imagine how epic it will seem when it runs in multiplexes before Michael Jackson's This Is It...but for now, you'll want to full-screen it, for sure: http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/realityrocks/279195/adam-lamberts-first-music-video-explodes-fans-heads-follow-suit/ | |
