Queen and Adam Lambert have kicked off their North America tour in style.
The band performed at Chicago's United Center on Thursday June 19 in what was the first date of a long run across the country.
The group opened with 'Now I'm Here' before launching into the amped-up 'Stone Cold Crazy'.
Other tracks played included 'Fat Bottomed Girls', 'Killer Queen' and the Freddie Mercury solo track 'Love Kills'.

Queen, Adam Lambert rock the United Center in tour kick-off

One thing’s certain: Thursday night’s concert at United Center by Queen and Adam Lambert was the only show in Chicago to include both a physics lesson and a singer in a diamond-studded leopard skin suit. It was the perfect pairing of brainy and challenging rock music with outrageous and glamorous attitude. Since the death of beloved Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in 1991, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor have tended the eternal flame of the band’s legacy. During the 2000s, the pair partnered with Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers. Rodgers’ pipes were well-matched to full-tilt rockers like May’s “Tie Your Mother Down,” but perhaps lacked a measure of the flamboyant flair to fully inhabit the grand, romantic sweep of Mercury’s “Somebody to Love.”Enter Lambert...........read more on Sun Times
Queen and Adam Lambert's Tour Opener 5 Things We Learned
Ron Hyman wrote:
Even when he was auditioning for American Idol, singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" for the judges with all his falsetto fireworks, it was readily apparent Adam Lambert had a major soft spot for Queen. That he would later perform with the band itself at the end of his season — and brilliantly so, at that — only solidified the increasingly obvious fact: This singer and all his octave-defying range and theatrical flair owed a clear debt of gratitude to the late Freddie Mercury.......more on Rolling Stone
Adam Lambert did Freddie Mercury proud last night

A few years ago, when Queen—which presently consists of guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor—toured with Bad Company lead singer Paul Rogers, the whole affair felt sort of like a nonevent. I don't have anything against Paul Rogers insofar as there's nothing, like, fundamentally wrong with him, but I heard a rumor that they would occasionally play Bad Company songs on that tour, including but not limited to bluesy biker-bar-jukebox jammer "Can't Get Enough," and I'm afraid I don't have any use for that at all.......more on Chicago Reader
Adam Lambert and Queen tour opening night outfits including one studded Versace jacket…

So it was the opening night last night for the Queen and Adam Lambert North American tour, and as expected, Adam looked AMAZING!
Like a true diva, he changed multiple times, each look serving up some uber glamour. It’s easy to see why this man has adopted the name Glamberts for all his loyal fans. They (meaning me too) obviously LOVE his fashion sense.
First up was his Versace studded leather jacket – it’s so Donatella, in fact I think we’ve seen her in one very similar! Adam loves a bit of Versace, often wearing his metallic shoes.........read more on The Very Simon G
The Coronation of Adam Lambert

Once Upon a Time in Chicago...
It became official.
Adam Lambert transitioned from Glam Nation to Queen sensation and in full strut, marched boldly into that place where all that glitters is gold.
His performance with the legendary rock band Queen during the opening night of their North American tour at Chicago's United Center left no doubt that he had what it took to hold his own among rock royalty . And he had some pretty big boots to fill.
The boots of one Freddie Mercury.
Perhaps what's most relevant, is that he abandoned any notion that he should try.
It's a task that would have made a lesser man quake in his gold lamé shoes, but for Lambert, it appeared to be a natural transition and his interest was clearly not to replace, but to honor Mercury's memory........read more
