Adam Lambert is looking forward to entertaining his army of fans as part of his current world tour in support of album ‘Trespassing’. Lovers of his jaw-dropping voice, illuminating live show, and charismatic stagecraft should act fast to secure their tickets as AEG kicks off 2013 with a bang.
A flamboyant entertainer with a lifelong passion for music, Adam found fame as the standout competitor on the eighth season of Fox’s ‘American Idol’. Fans worldwide were enthralled by a series of electrifying performances from the big singer with the even bigger voice. Debut studio album ‘For Your Entertainment’ arrived in 2009, establishing Adam as an artist as comfortable in the studio as he is in front of a live audience. ‘For Your Entertainment’ debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200, selling 198,000 in its first week and winning a devoted following. ‘Glam Nation’, Adam’s worldwide concert tour, tore up concert venues across North America, Europe, and Asia, introducing fans everywhere to his high energy stage show.
Drawing on his experiences as an international best-selling recording artist and performer, Adam followed his debut recording with two releases: the ‘Acoustic Live!’ E.P. in 2010, and live CD/DVD ‘Glam Nation Live’ in the following year. After extensive writing and recording sessions with superstar producers such as Pharrell Williams, Benny Blanco, and Dr. Luke, second album ‘Trespassing’ was released on May 15, 2012. As executive producer and principal writer, Adam took a leap forward as an artist with ‘Trespassing’, effortlessly melding the glam-rock aesthetic of his earlier work with a contemporary electro-pop vibe. Lead single ‘Better than I Know Myself’ showcased the bold, new Adam Lambert sound for 2012: a combination of soaring song-craft and shimmering electronics.
Adam says, “For this album, I wanted to evolve and explore new sounds. Having been on tour for a year, and really understanding what gets my fans both dancing AND crying, I had a better idea of the type of music that I wanted to create. Also, having been through the experience of becoming a public person, I know myself better as an artist. I'm more in tune with the things that I want to express and the stereotypes that I want to challenge. This album is the most vulnerable I’ve let myself get. These are my real ideas, dreams, fears, and struggles — that’s what I’m singing about.”
‘Trespassing’ was an immediate hit, selling 78,000 copies in its first week and reaching number one in the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. Critical acclaim from the international media soon followed. Rolling Stone magazine hailed it as “the great pop album everybody was hoping Adam Lambert would make”, and iTunes named it as one of its top ten Best Pop Albums of 2012.
Adam also reached out to his Chinese fans in 2012. In September he became the first western artist to perform on Zhejiang Television’s ‘The Voice of China’. His electrifying performance of ‘Whataya Want From Me’ and ‘Trespassing’ was enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people on TV and internet broadcasts. He returned to Asia in November to rock the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong, where he gave a typically vibrant performance to a global TV audience of 2.33 billion. From Hong Kong, Adam came straight back to Shanghai for the ‘Hennessy Artistry’ concert series on December 2. Before an ecstatic crowd, he performed a six-song set of material from his two albums, bringing the perfect close to a great year for China’s Adam Lambert fanatics.
“AEG is delighted to be bringing Adam Lambert to Shanghai for his first solo concert in China,” says Mr. Adam Wilkes, AEG’s Senior VP of Asia Music and Touring. “So many Chinese music fans appreciate his incredible talent and yet have never had a chance to see him live on stage. As ‘American Idol’ fans worldwide already know, when Adam Lambert gets behind the microphone, you know that you are in for an unforgettable night.”
