In the latest Instinct magazine, Adam Lambert had something very interesting to say about gay music and pop stars. Thumbnail image for AdamLambert.jpgAdam said:
"As a community, we're a little bit resistant to a gay male pop star ourselves. It's very easy for people to look at my origin, which is American Idol, and automatically assume that I'm a commercial sellout or a puppet or a flash in the pan. I don't think I'm any of those things. There's something weird there. We're very eager to celebrate a strong female. But to celebrate a fellow gay man - it gets catty sometimes."
Actually, I think he's on to something. I often wonder why gay men love artist like Madonna, Gaga and Britney, but don't show the same type of love or fanaticism to actual gay music artists.
There are a lot gay music artists out there like: B. Slade, Ferras, Jay Brannan, Matt Morris, Sam Sparro, Nhojj, Theo Tams and Eric Himan. But, I'm not sure many gays really know about these talented artists. And that's another thing, these are talented artists. They don't wiggle in leather lingerie, lip-sync or look like citizens from the Capitol in The Hunger Games. These guys are legit.
So I ask you all, does Adam have a point? Are we a little bit resistant to gay male pop stars? ......have your say
