Adam Lambert is an openly gay mainstream pop artist. He is recognizable from American Idol’s eighth season, in which he was the runner up. Adam Lambert stands as one of our nation’s most recent gay icons in pop culture. Through his dress, performances, demeanor, music, etc., Lambert has made sure to bring his “gayness,” if you will, into the limelight and force people to accept it in order to accept him, and not just brush it under the rug. Even before being in the spotlight, Lambert has dealt with many of the issues the It Gets Better project addresses; and he still deals with these issues today. Lambert’s personal experience is known and felt through the video, and his message is clear and concise to the LGBT youth community. He celebrates himself as an individual and is encouraging the viewers, the struggling LGBTQ youth, to do the same.
