#38 Adam Lambert
Few American Idol alumni—few singers, period—take such evident and obvious pleasure in the act of singing that Adam Lambert does. It may not have won him the Idol crown (give it up, then take it back, for Kris Allen!), but he’s got so much life and energy that it’s frankly a little surprising Simon Cowell was involved at any step of the process.

NOWNESS: Much depends on the reception of Lambert’s upcoming sophomore release, which he has referred to as his “dream album” due to the increased creative freedom and hand-picked collaborators he had while recording it. Despite a couple Top 40 hits and a rabid fanbase, the jury’s still out on whether Lambert can be a pop icon in his own right, but the possibility is still there for him in a way that it probably isn’t for Idolmate Kris Allen. RESUME. Lambert’s Idol loss has only furthered his reputation as an underdog. His debut, For Your Entertainment, has sold more than 820,000 copies since November 2009, reached No. 3 on the Billboard album chart and finished 29th for the year—better than most of his recent fellow Idol alumni—while “Whataya Want From Me” reached No. 10. And he spent the second half of 2010 selling out clubs and halls nationwide to rapturous reception. Not too much to work with just yet, but so far, so good. (4/10)

HOTNESS: Lambert’s exciting to watch because he’s comfortable in his own skin as well as snakeskin, and he’s not afraid to be goofy or vulnerable, as well as commanding. It certainly doesn’t hurt that his piercing eyes and soft mouth—as ready with a pout as with a bring-it grin—bear a resemblance to that hunka-hunk Elvis, either. (4/5)
Was there anything that was off-limits in his new special? Only one thing!
“I think maybe my dating life,” Adam admitted. “I’ve tried to keep that somewhat sacred, as far as that privacy. It’s the one thing I have, you know? I think that’s not uncommon. A lot of people try to keep that private, but the good news is that I am in love, so that’s a good place to be. It’s a great time to be making music, I’ll tell you.”
Adam says fans can expect new music starting soon: “I don’t have a release date yet. Fans will be able to hear some new music in the fall. Something new is coming in the fall so stay tuned!
Pop superstar Adam Lambert was ashamed when he first realized he is gay, but is now proud and wouldn't hide his sexuality for anything, according to a new Behind the Music profile.
Lambert recalls that he was in sixth grade when he realized he was different from most of the other boys. “I was kind of in denial for a while and it was all in my own head," he says. "And to me it was a deep secret. I was just not ready to talk about it with anybody.”
Charles Robbins from The Trevor Project & Joel Flatow from the RIAA present Adam with a plaque on March 10th 2011.It was to commemorate his singular devotion to inspiring and helping save young lives.
