Singer Adam Lambert brought a little much-needed publicity to a good cause today when he shared a message with his fans via Twitter. The multi-talented 29-year-old sent the following Tweet to his one million plus followers: "Has everyone signed up for a birthday campaign with Charity:water? I love seeing how many people are going to benefit from clean water."
So, what is the Charity: Water Birthday Campaign? It's actually called the September Campaign, and the non-profit organization has run it for the past four years. The concept is simple: instead of receiving birthday presents, participants ask that family and friends give money to build water projects.
While Adam Lambert didn't make his sexuality a major talking point while competing on "American Idol" -- he later came out in a "Rolling Stone" cover story -- "Idol" viewers and fans at home knew there was something special about the flamboyant contestant. Lambert was out in his personal and professional life well before he hit the "Idol" stage and made his mark as the contestant to watch. On the show, he fired up audiences with his glam rock stylings, sexed-up stage persona and multi-octave range. Though he finished the 2009 season of "Idol" in second place, he remianed the season's breakout star. His major label debut album "For Your Entertainment" has sold more than 800,000 copies in the U.S. and earned him a Grammy Award nomination for the No. 10 Hot 100 hit "Whataya Want From Me."

Has Lambert seen any of your work?
I had drawn a picture of him in my free time just for fun, and I ended up posting it on Twitter.
In August (2010), his brother actually tweeted me. From there, I got a whole new group of viewers. I ended up selling the piece, and the woman I sold it to gave me a meet-and-greet ticket to see (Lambert) in Illinois. I did get to meet him, and he did get to sign two of my pieces. I'm so thankful for the experience.
