| Glitz is coming to Foxwoods - Adam Lambert and GlamNationKathleen Creighton - Quote :
What is leather and glitter and glam all over. Well from the looks of photos and videos that have been posted over the past forty-eight hours it would be Adam Lambert and the Glam Nation Tour. Unlike any other debut tour for an American Idol contestant, this show is filled with lights, costumes, dancers and polished professionalism. There are costume changes, special effects lighting and projected visuals. And smack dab in the middle of it is the artist loaded with creativity, determination and a voice to tie it all together in one glitzy package.

Adam Lambert says he's toned down.
But don't you believe him.
Admitting he may have gone over the top with his in-your-face boy-kiss and full frontal fondle on the American Music Awards telecast in November, last season's "American Idol" runnerup says audiences have nothing to fear from his Glam Nation Tour, which hits the tristate area next week.
The rocker's debut as a headliner comes to the MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Connecticut on June 24 after two days at the Nokia in Times Square. He's at the Borgata June 26.
"They won't be embarrassed," Glambert insists. "They definitely will be comfortable." Lambert at MGM Simply GrandPat Ryder - Quote :
Judging by the audience reaction at Foxwoods’ MGM Grand—a sold-out crowd standing at rapt attention for his full 65 minute set—Adam Lambert continues to add to his fanbase as he entertains his way across the US for his Glam Nation tour.
And there’s no question, Lambert is definitely here “For Your Entertainment” as his debut album so boldly proclaims. Teens, parents, and grandparents alike joined in the fun at the 4000-seat venue, alternately singing, screaming and dancing along to Lambert’s pop party. His theatrical training was put to good use with costumes, stage pieces, video and laser effects to draw the crowd in and keep them focused.
Lambert’s set opened, curiously but somehow appropriately, with a Brad Walsh-remix of “For Your Entertainment.” The audience quickly began to sing along until the projection screen changed from Lambert’s picture to a moonlit swamp, and the headliner stepped onto a platform to sing a medley of three non-album tracks: “Voodoo,” “Down the Rabbit Hole” (both bonus cuts) and “Ring of Fire.” “Fire” was one of the best remembered covers Lambert performed on FOX’s American Idol, the reality show on which he finished as runner-up in Season 8. Only time will tell whether Adam Lambert becomes the best-selling, longest-remembered alumnus of “American Idol.” But with the possible exception of Carrie Underwood, none of them have put the show in the dustbin of memory as quickly as the eighth-season runner-up. Thursday night at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods, Lambert showed that while he may not have had the workmanlike versatility to win “Idol,” he has a trademark style, which is probably more valuable in the pop long run. Another night at the casino, another “American Idol” concert, and another few hours to contemplate what the popular television show has wrought on the pop music scene.
Carrie Underwood is great, Daughtry is serviceably bland, Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken are all but irrelevant.
And then there is Adam Lambert.
The latest “Idol” sensation headlined the Grand Theater at the MGM Grand on Thursday night offering up an all-too short 53 minute set (plus a one song encore) to a screaming, sold-out crowd. Review: Adam Lambert at MGM Grand at FoxwoodsEric R. Danton - Quote :
If you weren't already aware that Adam Lambert has a background in musical theater, it wouldn't have taken you long to figure it out Thursday when the singer performed at MGM Grand at Foxwoods.
Lambert has a big Broadway-style voice, suited to the melodrama of the stage and able to ring out with impressive force. The runner-up on Season 8 of "American Idol" put it to good use during a 65-minute set of songs from his 2009 debut, "For Your Entertainment," and a handful of covers, including an exotic, Eastern-tinged take on Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire. | |
