Max Martin also won for "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" by Usher with Pitbull and "Whataya Want From Me" by Adam Lambert, who presented the award to the Swedish songwriter/producer. This is the fourth Songwriter of the Year win for Martin, who also earned the coveted prize in 1999, 2000 and 2001 for writing a string of hits, including "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)" by The Backstreet Boys, "Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears and "That's the Way It Is" by Celine Dion.
American Idol Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert was never one to soft-pedal -- not when it came to his performances on the show or his opinions on everything from drugs to sexuality to Lady Gaga. It's one of the many reasons we love him.
And as season 10 winds down, Adam clearly has a lot to say about the Top 6 finalists, first and foremost, his current favorite: Haley Reinhart. “I love Haley so much because musically and vocally, she's doing things that are at a top-notch level,” he told THR at Wednesday’s ASCAP Pop Music Awards, where Adam introduced Songwriter of the Year winner Max Martin.

Hitfix caught up with Adam Lambert on the red carpet at the ASCAP Pop Awards on Wednesday night as the “American Idol” runner-up was at the Los Angeles event to present his producer Max Martin with the songwriter of the year award.
Dapperly dressed and expertly coiffed, Lambert was friendly but coy when asked about his next album, which he says he’s been working on for about two months. He was more forthcoming about his pick to win “American Idol” this season and whose music he’s really feeling right now.
That's when I first met Adam Lambert. He had a great voice, but was doing this very dramatic thing with his eyes. The producers werent sure about him, speculating that Cowell might not like him, but I said, "No way. We've got to put him through" And thank God we did. Can you imagine a Season 8 without his rendition of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire," Tears for Fears' "Mad World," or Nina Simones's "Feeling Good"?
