I love when a celebrity actually uses their fame for a good cause, don’t you?
A few months ago, Adam Lambert requested that for his 29th birthday (on January 29th) he wanted people to help raise $29,000 for charity: water, a campaign designed to help bring clean, safe drinking water to developing nations.

With American Idol little more than a memory for Lambert, the singer’s 2009 debut album still managed to garner more than 800,000 sales, thanks in large part to singles like “Whataya Want From Me” and “If I Had You.” Whether fans will be around to gobble up his self-proclaimed “less camp” sophomore album when it drops later this year is another matter. When I first heard Adam Lambert, I just couldn't believe my ears. It was--literally--unbelievable. The problem with that kind of vocal perfection is that it is often too perfect. While every note is in place and every nuance is flawless, voices and performers of this caliber often lack one crucial element: soul!
While Adam's many theater performances growing up in San Diego are likely what gave him the incredible flare and wide vibrato, this kind of experience can hurt a lot of performers. They are so used to creating incredibly 'big' performances, that they simply don't connect with an audience in more subtle ways (or even care if the audience is out there at all). Technique is one thing, artistry is quite another.
Adam Lambert's New Album Will Be A Little More Serious

Former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert, has been a busy guy since he was the runner up two years ago. Lambert had major success with his first Album, For Your Entertainment. He then went on his first tour entitled “Glam Nation Tour,” selling out arenas all over the world. When we caught up with Lambert, he gave us an update on the status of his second album.
First, Justin Bieber did it. Now, Adam Lambert has done it as well. Both performers have asked fans and supporters to send money to a micro charity in honor of their birthdays. Bieber asked for $17,000 for his 17th birthday. Likewise, Adam Lambert has asked for $29,000 for his annual celebration.
Like Bieber, Lambert’s supporters have gone above and beyond – more than the American Idol star could have predicted. At the last count, Lambert’s call for online donations far exceeded his goal. The $29,000 mark was broken in two days, leading Lambert to make a bold move and raise the goal to $290,000. Even Lambert was surprised when the campaign’s total reached $323,255. The funds raised by Lambert’s fans will be earmarked for helping poor people worldwide via the organization charity:water.
“I am so excited to be a part of charity:water and able to give back to those in need,” said Lambert.

Earlier, we brought you a preview of our backstage interview with Adam Lambert at the NewNowNext Awards, which airs tonight on Logo at 10 PM ET and streaming online at LogoTV.com. Now, we bring you the whole interview… or at least most of it. (I think our editor had the good graces to edit out roughly 90 minutes of me just stroking his buttery-soft distressed leather sleeve while I stared at him with my lips tucked into my gums.)
