He may be touring the USA right now, but that doesn’t stop Adam Lambert from calling up Capital to talk about his new single “Whataya Want From Me.”
Adam called us up from his tour bus, just before playing a gig in Tennessee as part of his Glam Nation 2010 Tour, which arrives here in the UK this autumn. He told us about his new single, playing live and hanging out with the likes of JLS, Ke$ha and Katy Perry.
Katy of course recently injured her leg in Canada, at a music industry awards after-show party but it was the first Adam had heard about it: “You know it’s funny I didn’t even know about that…!”
But he did confirm to us that both he and the future Mrs Russell Brand, have been friends for a while: “I’m a big of Katy. We met through mutual friends in LA a few years ago. We partied together in LA last year for Halloween and she’s a lot of fun, I really like her.”
And Ke$ha is another artist Adam admires; “To work with both Katy and Ke$ha would be an honour. I met Ke$ha at an event at the start of journey after idol and we just totally clicked. Her sense of humour is great and she’s a really genuine person and it’s great to see that in the industry.” So will they perform a duet in the near future? Watch this space.
Back to his music, Adam told us it’s great that us Brits are reacting well to his music including new single “What do you want from me” taken from his debut album. So is the song about anyone special in the former American Idol star’s life? “I love what this song is saying lyrically and I think it’s expressing something that we’ve all felt. It’s like a universal emotion of feeling a combination of vulnerability and confusion when you are first falling in love or when you’re at a crossroads in a relationship. I think we’ve all been there. It could also be about the relationship I have to the public- it’s those question as well so sometimes it feels like me responding to the media.”
