confirming their feeling of attraction to this stunningly gorgeous and talented young man. This number is not for views but for post, which is practically unheard of. The phenomenon spawned the book "On the Meaning of Adam Lambert" written by Juneau & Xena. Juneau & Xena are currently caravanning around the US following Lambert's Glam Nation tour promoting and selling their book and faux tattoos replicating Adam's own Eye of Horus tattoo to like-minded libido activated and diverse masses of women.
Otherwise know as Juneau Underwood and Katherine Hollinsworth these highly educated and respectable women and legions of others like them are experiencing fan fever reminiscent of a cross between Elvis Presley & Jerry Garcia. With Adam they not only admire him sexually and musically, they follow the Glam Nation Tour across the country.
In my own recent book I devote a chapter to explaining why and how Adam's alpha maleness triggers such ardent fans. Just recently at the 930 Club in Washington DC Adam was performing on stage singing "Sure Fire Winners" a song from his much acclaimed album "For Your Entertainment" and a security guard got in the way of a Glambert photographing him. Although Adam was in the midst of performing, without missing a beat Adam kicked at the security guard and as the guard moved out of the way Adam incorporated "get out, get, out" into his lyrics and then came back and in fierce rock & roll fashion told the Glambert to "Take my picture bitch".
Why did Adam's aggression set twitter twittering and hearts thumping across the nation? Adam's sexy presentation matters more than his sexual orientation. On a biophysical level that bypasses contemplation Adam triggers primitive signals in women that say, I'm the large highly intelligent alpha male you need to bring home the bacon and father your glitter babies. On an intellectual level women know that Adam is gay, but on that uncontrollable biophysical level, the nature of which is still a scientific mystery, Adam sets hormones raging. Adam triggers feelings in the most primal part of the brain. In Adam's case many of the feelings aroused in women are nurturing as well as sexual. The brain stem, which is the inner and most primitive layer, oversees reproduction, self-preservation, and vital functions such as the circulation of blood, breathing, sleeping, and the contraction of muscles in response to external stimulation.
This primitive layer of the brain is located at the base of the skull is sometimes referred to as the "reptilian brain," because all vertebrates from reptiles to mammals share this portion of the anatomy. This brain function does not discern whom Adam finds attractive but only his qualities of attraction. Women instinctively favor males with pronounced "alpha" qualities, the ability to dominate other males and bring home more than their share of the kill. These men enhance survival of the species.
The Washington DC incident one was just another display of Adam's alpha maleness. What could be more alpha than a Rock Kick? During the American Idol tour a moment was captured when Adam was hit in the leg with a sex toy while performing "Whole Lotta Love". Without missing a beat, Adam kicked the object so hard that it flew about 35 rows back into the audience. Adam's ability to react and incorporate his reaction into the performance is astonishing. Even though last year Adam enjoyed it when fans threw things on stage, he did not want to be hit with them. In an interview with Jay Decon from 105.3 Hot-FM Adam said, "when they throw things at me especially while I'm singing it kind of bugs me a little bit, that's why I kicked it so hard." This was not a wimpy, sissy, androgynous kick. This was an alpha male message of disapproval. Jay Deacon properly labeled it a "Rock Kick." This "Rock Kick " was viewed on YouTube almost half a million times on just one site.
An alpha male with guyliner and nail polish you say? There are many definitions but all agree that an alpha male is a large dominant courageous male. Alphas have the strength of character to live by their own terms. Adam embraces the most attractive thing a person can accomplish which is being comfortable in their own skin and owning who they are. Adam makes no apologies, is highly intelligent, courageous and confident. Alphas believe they have a right to their opinions, they get the girl to sing the duet with them and they tell people to shut of their cell phones while their performance is being recorded.
When asked about his AMA performance Adam stood by his interpretation of the lyrics. Recalling Adam's reaction when
confronted with the pictures of him kissing his former boyfriend, he did not deny or explain them. Adam's attitude is this is who I am, deal with it, like me or don't like me, I have nothing to hide. Simon called Adam fearless. Paula called him brave. Adam is a calculated risk taker. He will risk more than he can afford to lose and will not play it safe. He acknowledged his orientation early in his career so he can live truthfully regardless of the fans it might cost him.
His performance at the AMA's and his refusal to acknowledge
regret or apologies was gutsy, admired in most circles and respected. Around the world Adam garnered attention. There is more to him than just a being a performer; he is a man with honesty and convictions when these are scarce commodities. That is what will set him apart artistically. He will be experimental and we will be his lab rats. Maybe not all of the experiments will work but with Adam's creative genius he will always be ready to unleash another artistic venture. Adam will always commandeer the show; he is the alpha ringmaster of his own domain.
Adam is intellectually and physically Alpha. Although Adam only went to high school it is obvious from his conversations and his level of vocabulary that he has develops himself in every possible way, he has traveled around the world, read books and enriched himself intellectually. He seems to be an astute businessman with an understanding of the music industry and an innate sense of how he should market himself. He also has the capacity not to take life too seriously. When his album cover caused a controversy Adam tweeted that it was supposed to be ridiculous. Then Adam tweeted his album cover with pen drawn alterations and said it was dressing as David Navarro for Halloween. Adam has the ability to laugh at himself.
Adam has the desirable alpha characteristics that subconsciously trigger an attraction in women that has overpowered conscious objections. When the appeal of Adam's biophysical subconscious triggers collides with the appeal of his obvious conscious physical attributes it is no wonder Adam's ardent female fans could care less if he is gay. Adam is hot, strutting, hip grinding, loaded with testosterone and wears makeup; the latter does not detract from the former.
We have yet to decipher all of the emotions triggered in the subconscious level of the human brain. It is not all sexual; there is a primitive primal level that evokes the tigress defending her young. Beware any reviewer that gives unwarranted criticism. This growing body of fiercely loving and protective fans is a force to be reckoned with.
Adam represents a change in perception, he has pushed boundaries to the brink of what we believe, he has proven his claim that "sexy is sexy". Adam is conquering the world with his powerful alpha personality, audacious masculine beauty, his openness, intelligence, whimsical charm and the most technically beautiful voice in the music industry today.
