| Subject: Adam Lambert tops on Hot 100 among alum 28.05.10 16:40 | |

- Adam Lambert rules the Billboard Hot 100 in the newest numbers released Thursday -- at least in terms of "American Idol" alum. The singer only saw his single "Whataya Want From Me" drop one position to #29 this week, which is pretty impressive once you consider that the song has been on the charts now for 23 weeks. The closest former "Idol" right now to Adam is Carrie Underwood, who is sitting at #59 with "Undo It," the song she played at Wednesday's finale. (If you haven't heard the true story behind Adam's absence yet, click over here.)
Should we expect a shake-up soon? Typically the "Idol" winner and runner-up have fairly high debuts for their new singles -- though Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox actually covered old songs rather than performing a new number.
As for people with an "Idol" connection, Miley Cyrus (who served as a mentor earlier this season) debuted at #8 for her controversial new song "Can't Be Tamed." Meanwhile, the cast of "Glee" (who followed up the show this year on Tuesday nights) saw their version of "Dream On" debut at #26. (However, most "Glee" songs tend to fade fast.) http://www.examiner.com/x-11363-TV-Examiner~y2010m5d27-American-Idol-Adam-Lambert-tops-on-Hot-100-among-alum--Miley-Cyrus-Glee-debut | |
