| Subject: Lambert makes history with rapid Starland sellout 26.04.10 22:47 | |
| Adam Lambert's June 5th show at the Starland Ballroom was one of the fastest sellouts in venue history. - Quote :
Tickets for the June 5th performance sold out in about 20 minutes, according to venue officials. And while that's a fast pace, it's not the fastest sellout the Sayreville site has seen.
A performance by Alice In Chains in 2006 took about two minutes to sell out, while Justin Timberlake's Starland show that year went about as fast. A benefit show to aid victims of the December 2004 Boxing Day tsunami took about four minutes to go clean -- unsurprising, since the lineup included My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Coheed And Cambria and Senses Fail. And speaking of My Chem and Coheed, their August 2004 show - sponsored by the legendary 92.3 K-Rock and costing just .92 cents - took about five minutes to sell out. Why so long? Customers were limited to two tickets apiece.
Most Starland shows take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to sell out. But this handful - as well as shows from Velvet Revolver, Brand New, Slayer and now Adam Lambert - only took a few hours.
For fans who weren't fortunate enough to land Lambert tickets, don't fret: Starland's sister venue, the Nokia Theatre Times Square, puts a June 22nd Lambert show on sale Saturday at 10am. http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-2734-Newark-Starland-Ballroom-Examiner~y2010m4d26-Lambert-makes-history-with-rapid-Starland-sellout?cid=publish_twitter:2734 | |
