- Following months of fundraising, nightclub entrepreneur Jeremy Joseph is now just £829 short of his £30,000 charity target for Amnesty International.
Joseph, who owns both Heaven and G-A-Y, is trying to raise the funds for the global organisation via sponsorship for the forthcoming London Marathon, which takes place on 25 April.
Earlier this month he had raised £24,171, but following a £5,000 donation by American Idol star Adam Lambert on Saturday, his current total stands at £29,171.
Now, he needs just a further £829 to reach the sum.
Earlier this year, Jospeh promised to abolish door charges to his venues if the target is met.
In a statement released in February he said: "If G-A-Y & Heaven hit our target of £30,000 and if I achieve the marathon, as a thank you for your generosity and your support since G-A-Y bought Heaven, I will abolish all the door charges for one whole week at G-A-Y Late & Heaven for one week from Sun 25th to Sat 1st May - inclusive of Popcorn,. G-A-Y Porn Idol, G-A-Y Camp Attack & G-A-Y Saturdays."
Amnesty works independently and impartially to promote respect for all the human rights set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It concentrates on ending abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination.
