Quote :
Adam Lambert has been making headlines first midweek by both mentoring and performing on this year's hopelessly lethargic version of American Idol and on Saturday by performing at the
GLAAD awards. In one week Lambert was able to please opposite spectrums of society. As Adam recently said in Vancouver, "No matter how old you are, no matter who you sleep with, no matter what color your skin is, we can all party together." He is definitely here for our entertainment.
Middle America got the ferociously talented and family friendly version of the American Idol star who put on a laser lit show-stopping performance. He sang to America, Whataya Want From Me? Then with humility and intelligence Lambert thanked American Idol for the success the show has brought him. What the nation saw was the Adam Lambert that won the hearts of America last season.

Saturday night in his words Adam swished it up a bit at the GLADD awards, brought out the dancers and again put on an amazing performance. He sang two songs from his critically acclaimed album, "For Your Entertainment ". They were "Fever" co written by none other than Lady Ga Ga and "You Make Me Want to Listen to Music Again", a song that describes how many of Adam's fans feel about him.

On the GLADD red carpet Adam looked stunning. He was impeccably groomed and dressed. For added flair Adam wore a pair of vintage sunglasses. Lambert's look was reminiscent of old time Hollywood glamour when stars dressed like stars. On the GLADD stage Adam's outfit was tame compared to what he wore for Australia's Mardi Gras, but still glittery and tailored enough to show off his model-esque physique. Lambert performed for the LGBT community, which has often been critical of him for not flying a gay flag high enough.

This young and gifted entertainer is someone they should be proud of not for what cause he wants to speak out about but because of how he lives. Asking to be judged by his art alone is his political statement.

This week represents the tightrope Lambert balances on. Many believe that his performance on Wednesday night on American Idol represented redemption. On
American Idol Lambert had the chance to remind millions of Americans that he can entertain live on television and his performance will be acceptable to for all ages. Adam needed to make that statement after the overreaction and media frenzy surrounding his AMA performance a performance that was specific to the lyrics of the song and not representative of all future acts.

Not only did Adam Lambert accomplish that he displayed the most technically beautiful vocals in the entertainment industry today. Don't give up on him because he was born to entertain us. Going home to American Idol redeemed Lambert and gave American Idol the ratings blitz necessary to surpass "Dancing With The Stars" this week.

What is important about Lambert is that he is a transformational entertainer. He is the first openly gay singer ever signed to a major record label. He would have won American Idol if the votes were not skewed in Arkansas. It is only someone with Adam Lambert's talent and appeal that can break down the boundaries that divide us. His mainstream acceptance moves forward the agenda of all who cherish liberty and equality.

What I want from Adam Lambert is for him to be able to own who he is without being the target for hate and ridicule. Lambert can help accomplish for the LGBT community what Michael Jackson did for racial equality. There are detractors that may say that we who are on the Adam Lambert bandwagon have overstated our case when predicting that Adam will be glaming up the world as the next iconic superstar. Are they wrong? Those of us who know him best love him the most. We know the depth of his talent and the magnitude of his appeal. Time will tell.
