| Adam Lambert's Rise to Fame - Quote :
n January 2010, Simon Cowell announced that Season 9 of American Idol will be his last. Having been a contestant on the show, Adam knows firsthand how much the singers and viewers value Simon's opinion...even if it's harsh.
"I think the audience will definitely miss Simon, and I think the contestants will miss out on, like, really honest criticism," he says. "I think that that's important to making you a better performer—you've got to hear the good and the bad. He makes you step your game up and calls you out when it doesn't work. But I also think he's got a very specific taste. There's certain things he's not into. For example, country music. He doesn't like it." "American Idol" star Adam Lambert is finding these days that he's pretty famous — there are few places he can go where he isn't recognized. And despite all the notoriety surrounding him after his controversial appearance on the American Music Awards in November, he's comfortable with the fact that people are touched by his music.
"The biggest change between before 'Idol' and now would probably just have to be the level of notoriety. I mean, it changes everything," he told Oprah Winfrey on her show Tuesday (January 19). "I try to go throughout my daily life just as if nothing has changed, but you don't have much anonymity anymore, which feels really good. People come up, and say hi and they enjoy your work."

Everyone knows the big Adam Lambert news is his upcoming appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. AfterElton.com just got a sneak peek at what Adam had to tell Oprah about being an out performer. (And you can watch the world premiere of Adam's new video here!)
ADAM: I said I don't want to deny it because that's not me. I want to own it. But what I chose to do is not give myself a label because I knew that label would be attached to me from there on out and I think people would jump to conclusions with that label. OPRAH: Yeah, because then people would say there's the gay guy.
ADAM: Yep. And now that's what they say, actually. OPRAH: No. They're saying — no, I heard they just say your name.
ADAM: Really? OPRAH: You're the big rocker. I don't hear "the gay guy."
ADAM: I hope that's — I think that's how it should be in a perfect world. OPRAH: Yes. Adam LamBERRRTTT tells Oprah He Waited a Lifetime for a Moment Like This

Adam Lambert talks to Oprah about higher powers, being a homo & having no regrets, goes shopping on Melrose and performs (and Queerty doesn’t like it). There’s a new book about lesbians throughout history. Nerve has a list of 10 child stars you probably want to do now that they’re legal. Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker will have more gays this year. And Tim Tebow has filmed a commercial for Focus on the Family.
GLAMBERT: Our Sexiest Man of the Year and overall Man of the Year Adam Lambert guested on Oprah yesterday rocking a Danny Zuko ‘do and a brown suede jacket. They chatted about dreaming the impossible dream and how he looked to the sky and said maybe this time he would be lucky, maybe this time he’d stay to the top 13, and how for him w/r/t the AMAs, it’s all about forgetting regret because life is yours to live. And so on and so forth and now here we are on Oprah, and he’s gay, and he’s foxy, and well most of the interview goes over material relatively familiar to those of us who’ve been following Adam Lambert’s every move, crotch grab and gay reference from Day One. But we watched it again anyhow. And again. You should, too. Also Susan Boyle was on the show, I guess.

Adam Lambert dropped by "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Tuesday (Jan. 19) to talk about what's changed since January of last year, when he was just a musical theater kid with crazy vocal range and "American Idol" dreams "I think my biggest concern going into it was, 'I'm a little left of center for this whole 'American Idol' thing,' " said Lambert -- or the "wild child," as Winfrey called him. "I'm so glad they took a chance on me."The glam pop singer also stood his ground on his "frisky, risqué" performance at the American Music Awards ("There's no regrets for me," he told the talk show host) and said that while he's proud to be openly gay, he'd like to be known as a singer first.Later, Lambert performed his single "Whataya Want from Me," which also debuted in music video form on VH1 over the weekend. | |
