Queen + Adam Lambert are overcome by Freddie Mercury at the Forum

Mikael Wood of The L.A.Times wrote:

It is perhaps the greatest compliment to Freddie Mercury that so much about Queen’s current live show feels like old news.

The veteran British rock band -- or half of it, anyway -- appeared Thursday night at the Forum with Adam Lambert, the former “American Idol” contestant, more or less playing the role of Mercury, who died in 1991. Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor have revived the Queen brand before, touring and recording an album with Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. Queen’s original bassist, John Deacon, hasn’t taken part in any of the recent reunions.

But the peacocking Lambert, an avowed Mercury devotee, shares much more of a spirit with the group’s famously theatrical frontman, and he seems to have inspired May and Taylor to boost the spectacle factor for their summer arena tour...........continue reading

Queen + Adam Lambert thrill fans at The Forum

Michelle Mills of The San Gabriel Valley Tribune wrote:
When it was announced that classic rock band Queen would be touring with Adam Lambert sitting in for deceased lead singer Freddie Mercury, fans greeted the news with a mix of excitement and apprehension. Lambert might have been feeling the same way back stage, but strutted into his spot under the lights at The Forum on Thursday night with confidence.

The band’s lineup included original members guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, regular keyboardist Spike Edney, plus Neil Fairclough on bass and Taylor’s son, Rufus Taylor, also handling percussion.

There was no opening act -- just two hours of solid Queen songs beginning with “Now I’m Here.” Lambert took the tune on, as he did all that followed, with vocal prowess, channeling just a tad of Mercury while still making each song very much his own.........contine reading

Queen + Adam Lambert At The Forum: Top 5 Highlights

Britt Bickel wrote:
Queen + Adam Lambert have played a handful of shows since their tour opener in Chicago last month, but it was a special homecoming show Thursday night at the Fabulous Forum for Lambert, who was performing for the first time as the new Queen frontman in front of family and friends.

There was certainly a lot of expectation and wonder how Lambert would size up as the new frontman going into the show, but any doubts of his inclusion on the tour quickly faded the minute he stepped out on stage and ripped into the Queen classic “Now I’m Here.”

Lambert and Queen delivered a spectacular show that brought the iconic rock band’s timeless favorites into the modern era. Here are five highlights of the show that stuck out the most for us............read more on KEarth101

Happy 4th of July everybody!

In case you can’t tell, Socialite Life is taking a little bit of a break today, but fear not! Because we’ve still got a few things up our sleeves just for you.

But first, what would the 4th of July be without an amazing rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” that will bring you to tears? That’s what Adam Lambert is for! Watch the video above and you’ll feel more patriotic than you ever have before.

Have a great 4th everybody!
