Adam Lambert’s Glam Nation Tour kicked off at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania last night. Tickets for the sold-out show were being flogged by scalpers for almost three times their retail value, but by all accounts, the extra charges seemed to be worth it.
At the request of RCA Records and 19 Entertainment, media were banned from attending the event, leaving them to rely on fans for reports, or God forbid, having to buy their own tickets to attend. One such company to take the plunge and purchase a ticket was the Wilkes-Barre Times-Leader newspaper, which said “the singer owned the stage from the very first moments, giving the packed theater exactly what it wanted.” More HERE Lambert brings ‘Glam’ to the Kirby REVIEW - Quote :
Adam Lambert brought the “Glam Nation” to Wilkes-Barre Friday night, as the “American Idol” season 8 runner-up performed at a sold-out F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts.
The media, however, was not welcome at the show.
RCA, Lambert’s record label, declared the concert off limits to all media outlets on Wednesday, citing the facts that Lambert is a young performer and the Kirby show was the first date on his first-ever solo headlining tour.
In interest of full disclosure, this reporter purchased a balcony seat for a total of $124.22 (double the face value of $39.50 plus fees and expedited shipping) on the secondary market Thursday morning after learning media credentials would not be issued. WILKES-BARRE - Tickets to the opening show of Adam Lambert's first headlining U.S. tour made an excellent birthday gift for one devoted fan.
Megan Lafferty, who received tickets to the show for her 13th birthday, stood out in the crowd gathered near a still-running tour bus behind the F.M. Kirby Center on Friday. Her blue-streaked hair was styled to match Mr. Lambert's spiked locks.
"I liked when he sang 'Mad World,' " she said, recounting her favorite performance from Mr. Lambert's time on "American Idol." "It really clinched (my) love." Mr. Lambert was the "American Idol" season eight runner-up.
Mr. Lambert did not emerge from the bus while Megan waited, but she got her picture taken with his band members.
"It'll suffice," she said. "It's worth the memories." | |
